Research at ASQ

The research in ASQ concentrates on three main topics:
  • Materials Science and Simulation
Modelling and experiments on size effects in plasticity, involving in-situ diffraction experiments at several x-ray beam lines of the Swiss Light Source and at the POLDI instrument at SINQ.

  • Neutron Imaging and Activation
Quantitative imaging techniques and high-resolution tomography using neutron beams at the SINQ radiography stations NEUTRA and ICON.

  • Ultra-cold neutron source
A new powerful spallation source for ultra-cold neutrons is currently being constructed at the Paul Scherrer Institut by an international collaboration.
